Sustainability
Building better does not stop at the finish
A sustainable build is not one decision, it is dozens of small ones: what gets specified, what gets wasted, and who you choose to hold you to a higher standard than the minimum. Here is where we actually stand.
Every job, not just the finished photos.
Committed, in writing
We are members of the Sustainable Builders Alliance, a body that holds builders to account on how they build, not just what they build. You can check our listing yourself, rather than take our word for it.
We are also members of the Australian Passivhaus Association, working toward the building-physics standard covered on our high performance homes page - a comfortable, efficient house is itself the sustainable outcome, long after handover.

What that looks like on site
Membership is a standard to be held to. This is the everyday practice underneath it.
Every site runs separate bins for waste rather than one general skip for everything. Sending mixed waste to landfill by default is the easy option and the wasteful one - separating it on site is what actually gets material recycled instead of buried.
It costs more effort than one skip and no thought. We do it anyway, on every job, because a sustainable build that only sorts its waste when someone is watching is not actually a practice, and this one is.
A material worth knowing about: denim insulation
Jeanius Denim Insulation is made from recycled denim, designed and manufactured in Australia, and certified to the same Australian thermal and fire-safety standards (AS/NZS 4859.1 and AS/NZS 1530.3) as any batt you would otherwise put in a wall or ceiling. It is soft to handle and free of the harmful chemicals ordinary glasswool batts are known for, and every batt keeps old denim out of landfill instead of adding another product to it.
We have not put it in a job yet - we are telling you about it because it is on our list for the next one where it fits, not because we have already used it. If it is the kind of choice that matters to you, ask us to spec it.
