We worked as a registered builder on The Block’s 2026 season at Mount Eliza, delivering a full fit-out to broadcast deadlines. It happened twenty minutes from where we build every other week of the year.

What it actually involved
A fit-out is everything after the structure exists: linings, joinery, wet areas, fixtures, finishes and the coordination that gets thirty trades through the same rooms in the right order without standing on each other. On a normal job that runs over months. On this one it ran to a broadcast schedule that does not move.
Mount Eliza also sits under council restrictions on permitted building hours, so the working day was shorter than a standard site. A fixed deadline and fewer hours to hit it is a scheduling problem before it is a building one.
Why it should matter to you, and why it should not
It should not matter that we were on television. Plenty of ordinary builders have been on television.
What is worth something is the specific thing it proves: a network put its schedule in our hands, on a site with restricted hours, and the work landed. That is the same problem as a family who needs to be in before Christmas, or a rental that cannot sit empty past a date. Deadlines are the part of building that quietly costs people money, and hitting a hard one under pressure is a fair test of whether a builder can run a programme.
The rest of our work says more. The Bonbeach house came from hand-drawn plans. The Blairgowrie job turned up a septic tank nobody knew about and still handed over before Christmas. Those are the jobs we would rather be judged on.

That is our own crew on site, working exactly the way they work on every other job. Nothing about the standard changes because there happen to be cameras around.
